The Pandalam Valiyakoyikkal Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, often simply referred to as Pandalam Ayyappa Temple, holds immense religious significance as the ancestral temple of the Pandalam Royal Family, who are revered as the foster parents of Lord Ayyappa. Located within the serene Pandalam Palace premises, this temple is believed to be the sacred place where Lord Ayyappa spent his childhood. It serves as a pivotal point for Sabarimala pilgrims, especially during the annual Mandalakalam pilgrimage season. One of the most significant traditions associated with this temple is the ceremonial procession of the Thiruvabharanam, the sacred gold ornaments of Lord Ayyappa. These precious jewels, believed to have been offered by the Pandalam King himself, are meticulously preserved at the Srambickal Palace (near the temple) and are carried in a grand procession from Pandalam to Sabarimala every year, a few days prior to the auspicious Makara Vilakku festival. This procession is a deeply revered event, with thousands of devotees accompanying the sacred caskets, symbolizing the strong bond between Lord Ayyappa and the Pandalam Royal Family.
Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple

The Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna in his form as Parthasarathy (the charioteer of Arjuna), is one of the most revered and ancient Vaishnavite temples in Kerala. Located in Aranmula, Pathanamthitta district, it is a significant pilgrimage site and one of the 108 Divya Desams, the holy abodes of Vishnu glorified by the Alvars. This temple is particularly famous for its association with the legendary annual Aranmula Uthrittathi Vallamkali (boat race), which is not only a competitive race but a ceremonial procession of elaborately decorated snake boats (Palliyodams) that accompanies the deity’s idol from the temple to the Pampa River.
